Who Writes These

A real person, one book at a time

I grew up on a farm outside Woodstock with seven brothers and sisters and a rotating cast of half-running cars. One winter we tied our sleds to my brother's Cutlass and put it in a ditch. When he hauled the rope out of the snow, our mailbox came up last and saluted us with the flag in the upright position.

Every family that's owned a car has a story like that. Most of them never get written down. That's the whole job — you send me the photos and the half-remembered details, and I turn them into a book somebody actually wants to keep.

Cars, trucks, bikes — I've written all of them. Your book is made for one owner and one machine. There's exactly one copy of it in the world, and I'm the one who wrote it.

Questions

Everything people ask

How long does it take?
Plan on about three weeks from the day you send photos to the day it lands on the doorstep — writing, your approval, printing, and shipping. Ordering close to a birthday? Get in touch first and we'll tell you honestly whether we can make it.
How many pages is it?
Around 60 pages — a real hardcover you can finish in one sitting, with their photos throughout. Long enough to feel like a book, short enough that they'll actually read it that night.
Can I approve it before it prints?
Yes. We send you the full story to read before anything goes to the printer. Want a name changed, a detail fixed, or a joke that lands better? Tell us and we'll rewrite it. Nothing prints until you say go.
Can I upload more photos?
Please do. Ten to twenty is the sweet spot, but send more if you have them — extra photos give us more to work with, and we'll pick the ones that fit the story best.
Can I add family members?
Absolutely. Kids, grandkids, spouses, the friend who helped with the engine swap — tell us who belongs in the story and they'll be in it.
Do you only do cars?
Anything with an engine. Trucks, motorcycles, Jeeps, tractors, boats, muscle cars, work vans — if somebody loves it and talks to it, there's a book in it. Some of my favorites have been the ones nobody expects.
Can pets be included?
Yes, and honestly they're some of the best characters we get to write. Send a photo of the dog who rides shotgun and we'll give them a proper role.
Can the car talk?
It can, and it's one of our favorites. Some books are told by the car itself — a diary the car has secretly been keeping all these years. Frank and the Beetle up above is written that way. Just ask for it and we'll do it.
Can you publish it on Amazon too?
We can — it's an optional add-on. Your custom book gets a real listing so family and friends can order their own copies for years to come.

Two things to know: it means the story becomes publicly available, and since the book is about a real person, we ask that the person it's about approves it first. Most people order the private one-of-one copy first and add this later, once they've seen the reaction.
